Keto 50kg weight loss and brief history
Thought I would post a little history.
I used to be martial arts instructor (South Pacific Tae Kwon do, Rhee Tae Kwon do) and right into exercise and healthy lifestyle so it was devastating to me when I got diagnosed with a couple of auto immune diseases causing great pain followed by massive weight gain.
This also affected my mental health greatly.
My MH has been an ongoing issue since childhood following many things that children shouldn't have to deal with but that I am not going to talk about here.
PTSD, depression, anxiety, bi-polor syndrome, aggrophobia etc. All the labels.
With the pain and my worsening MH, I ended up in a very bad way. Culminating in basically not leaving my bedroom for 3yrs except for dr and hospital visits. Follows by an extended stay in an acute mental health ward getting 11 ECTs (electric shock therapy). Not fun.
But to make it brief, I started to recover, found out that I am an artist and started a not for profit group (Demented Artists Group Inc) for people in recovery from MH- using art, acceptance and friendship as the main tools.
Then a few years of more weight gain and life lessons.
Very grateful that a physiotherapist I was seeing for pain, introduced me to the ketogenic diet which I embraced 110%. I lost approx 50kgs with most of it going in the first year. Yay me!
This was also around the time that I discovered the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).
I originally joined to support my autistic daughter as under 18s need an adult accompanying them. I was only intending to go until she became a legal adult the next year.
I am an artist so I became interested in the scribal arts. Which I became warranted in. I have also discovered embroidery which I love.
Now, ironically, I go to the meetings more then my daughter who is now over 18 and doesn't need me there to support her.
I became a Lady in the society at Great Northern War this year (2019) which was so amazing. I literally cried like a baby the whole time that Queen Eva & King Felix were presenting me with the honour. Little bit embarrassing. 😀.
Well that's enough for today.
